Santa Shop

It’s almost the most magical week of the year!! Our Santa Shop (sponsored by the LCE PTO) is a wonderful program that gives  students the opportunity to do their holiday shopping “on their own” with adult supervision, choosing from a variety of gifts priced under $10. Our PTO is looking for cheerful, energetic parent volunteers to help our students choose special gifts for the people they love. If you can lend a little time, we can guarantee big smiles, joyful moments, and plenty of holiday cheer. Your support helps make this tradition truly unforgettable for our kids, and we appreciate you for bringing a little extra magic to the season.

How To Train Your Reindeer
(To Fly)

Our 1st and 2nd graders will take the stage for their winter musical, How to Train Your Reindeer (To Fly), on Tuesday, December 16 at 6:30 PM in the LCE cafeteria. Families and friends are invited to join us for this heartwarming holiday performance filled with songs, laughter, and fun! Performers should arrive by 6:15 PM. We can’t wait to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact our Music Director, Ms. Sarah Swango, at swango_s@nrschools.org.

Canned Food Drive

Our LCE Student Council will be sponsoring our annual canned food drive from December 8th–12th to support local families in need this holiday season. Each grade level is encouraged to bring in the following items:

Preschool & Kindergarten: Granola bars and Nutri-Grain bars
1st Grade: Ramen noodles
2nd Grade: Easy Mac packs or cups
3rd Grade: Packs of peanut butter or cheese crackers
4th Grade: Microwavable Spaghetti-Os, lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, etc.
5th Grade: Individual packs of animal crackers, pretzels, chips, etc.

Thank you for helping our Lions make a meaningful impact in our community through your generosity!

Spirit Week

Get ready for a festive week of fun—Holiday Spirit Week is coming December 15–19! Students are invited to join in the celebrations each day with the following dress-up themes:

Mon., Dec. 15: Holiday Pajamas Day
Tues., Dec. 16: Holiday Socks & Shoes Day
Wed., Dec. 17: Ugly Holiday Sweater/Shirt Day
Thurs., Dec. 18: Red & Green Day
Fri., Dec. 19: Grinch Day

We can’t wait to see all the creativity and holiday cheer throughout the building!

Cold Weather Reminder

As we move into the colder winter months, please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. Please consider dressing students in warm coats, hats, gloves, and closed-toe shoes—Crocs and sandals are not suitable for winter conditions and should not be worn on school days.

Below are our guidelines for recess during these cold winter months:

Wind Chill of 20°F or above: Recess is held outdoors, provided students are dressed appropriately.

Wind chill between 10°F and 19°F: Outdoor recess may still be allowed but for shorter durations (e.g., 10–15 minutes), ensuring students are properly dressed.

Wind chill below 10°F: Recess is generally held indoors, as exposure to cold at this level increases the risk of frostbite, especially if students are not adequately bundled up.

Thank you for helping us keep all students safe, warm, and ready for a great day of learning!

Winter Break Update

As we wrap up the first half of the school year, please note that Friday, December 19th is the end of the 2nd quarter and our last day of school before the holiday break. We hope all of our families enjoy a safe and relaxing break. Students will return to school on Monday, January 5th as we begin the 3rd quarter. Report Cards for the 2nd quarter and winter MAP test scores will be sent home with students on Friday, January 9th. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year!
